" Orientalism"
" Orientalism" is a 1978 book by Edward w. Said, in which the author established the eponymous term " Orientalism" as a critical concept to to describe the west's common, contemptuous depiction and portrayal of " The East", I, e. The orient.
" Orientalism" is a way of seeing that imagines, emphasize, exaggerates and diatorats differences of Arab peoples and cultures as compared to that of Europe and the U. S. it often involves seeing Arab culture as exotic, backward, uncivilized, and at times dengerous.
According to said, Orientalism dates from the period of European Enlightenment and colonization of the Arab word. Orientalism provided a rationalization based on a self - serving history in which " The west" constructed " The East" as extremely different and inferior, and therefore in need of western intervention or rescues ".
Wirite brief about said's interview about Orientalism
The Central argument of Orientalism is that way that we acquire this knowledge is not innocent or objective but the end result of a process that reflects certain interests that is, it is highly motivated. Specifically said argues that the way the west, Europe and the U. S. Looks at the countries And peoples of the middle East is through a lens that distorts the actual reality of those places and those people.
Edward said in Orientalism began for two reasons, one it was an immediate thing, that is to say, the Arab - Israel ; war of 1973, which had been preceded by a lot of images and discussions in the media in the popular press about how the Arab are cowardly and they don't know how to fight and they are always going to be eaten because they are not modern.
And the second is, which has a much longer history in my own life was the constant sort of disparitly I felt between what my experience of being and Arab was, and the representations of that that one saw in art. I am talking about very great artists, you know, like Delacroxi and Ang and Gerome and people like that, novelist who wrote about the orient like Disraeil or flaubert and you know the fact that those representations of the orient had very little to do with what I knew about my own background in life, so I decide to write the history of that.
Palestinian issue
This section talks of coexistence between religions, race, traditions, and beliefs, it shows how to understand one another and therefore expects to understand in order and therefore expects to understand in order for us to all live peacefully and Amicably with each other. The subsequent pages will focus more on Orientalism.
Palestine is a small region of land that has played a prominent role in the ancient and modern history of the middle East. The history of Palestine has been marked by frequent political conflict and violent land seizures because of its importance to several major world religions, and because Palestine sits at a valuable geographic crossroads between Africa and Asia.
