Thinking Activity :Unit 4 CS in Practice Frankenstein & writer's market

Frankenstein & writer's market

Hello readers!

Hear I am going to write Blog about the frankenstein & market. This task is our thinking Activity given by Dilip Barad sir. In the time how can see the frankenstein.

Frankenstein's cultural critic it is studies as a part of literature which is both highbrow as well as popular. It teaches us not to underestimate the power of youth culture and popular culture. 'Frankenstein' is a vital metaphor, peculiarity appropriate to a culture dominated by a consumer technology, neurotically obsessed with getting in touch with its authentic self and frightened at what it is discovering ".

The first theatrical presentation based on frankenstein was presumption, or The fact of frankenstein by Richard Brinsley peake, performed at the English opera house in london in the summer of 1823.

Film Adaptation in the frankenstein omnibus, readers can study the screenplay for the 1931 james whale film frankenstein, the most famous of all adaptations. It was loosely based on the nkvel with the addition of new elements, including the placing of a criminal brain into the monster's body. The first film version of frankenstein.

Writer's market

Before 1995,there was little market for twentieth century Indian fine Art, that when Artist, auction house, criticd, and others defined a new production category.

I have given one example, The frankensteins is also compare with the Robert movie.

Frankenstein and Robert movie both are same desire like love. Both are follow in the women love and forget the who is create him and fight against him. The film's narrative defers the onset of the posthuman condition for some other time in the future. The Robot's ontology permits it to such emotions by a simple removal of a chip from its body. But human beings struggle to eliminate such vulnerabilities from their minds and heart.

                                           Thank you...

Technoculture speed & slow movement

Hello readers!

Here I would like to wrote about Technoculture and speed, slow movement. This blog is our thinking Activity given by Dilip Barad sir. Department of English Bhavnagar University.

Technoculture speed

The late twentieth century has seen a rapid succession of technological imovations, from the silicon chip to the Internet and virtual reality. Times of the Technoculture explores the social and cultural meaning of new technologies tracing developments from the ' coming of the machine' with the Industrial Revolution and the development of mass production in the early twentieth century to the information revolution and the global network society.

Slow movement

Slow movement it is a culture revolution against the ration that faster is better always better.

Something slow movement is better but somethings is bad because we are rewind back to work, slowness is a new way of thanking about time.

The slow either has subsequently applied to a variety of activites and aspects of culture. People with dystonia have invaluable music contraction that cause slow and repetitive movements.

                                Thank you...

Thinking Activity : Unit 3 cultural studies in practice : Hamlet & To His Coy Mistress

" Hamlet" & " To His Coy Mistress"

Hello readers!

Here is my blog about Hamlet and To His Coy Mistress. As we all know that Tom Stoppard wrote an play in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. And we know that these two characters were marginalized in Hamlet, so If Shakespeare marginalized the powerless in his own version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Stoppard has marginalized us all in a era when in the eyes of sone all of us are caught up in forces beyond our control.

Hamlet acts as a foil or opposite, to Rosencrantz and guildenstern unlike his friends, Hamlet does not seem cinfused by the incomprehensibility of the world, nor does he have trouble making choices or decoding how to act. Unlike that of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, Hamlet's fact is portrayed on stage. Those familiar with the play Hamlet knows that he disappears from the ship and gose back to Elinor.

Rosencrantz and guildenstern constantly make ridiculous comments, and the men are wholly unable to understand their specific circumstances or the larger forces at work in the world. For example they applayed as the tragedies gather around them, mistaking the tragedians evil intentions for a performance. As hr leaves the stage, Guildenstern stern cannot remember if he is in fact Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

The action of stoppard's play takes place mainly " in the wings" of Shakespeare's, with brief appearance of major characters from Hamlet who fragments of the original 's scences. Between these episodes the two protagonists voice their confusion at the provress of events occurring on stage without them in Hamlet, of which they have no direct knowledge.

" To His Coy Mistress"

" To His Coy Mistress" is a cavalier poem written by the English author and politicians Andrew marvell editor during on just before the English interregum. It was published post humously in 1681.This poem is considered one of marvell's finest and is possibly the best recognized carpe diem poem in English.

This poem types of feelings inside you. One, when you didn't know the meaning, you will feed the deft skill of worlds in this poem. Second, when you will know the inner meaning, you will feel why chose to reas it, poet tells his Coy or shy Mistress to breack her coyness, to become one with him, to have sex with him. And if she refuses then the worms of earth will stole her virginity. Poet also tak about " vegetable love" wich brings a lot of debate as female anatomy her is compared with vegetables.

                                Thank you..

Thinking Activity : Unit :- 2 Five Types of cultural studies

Thinking Activity Unit :-2 Five Types of cultural studies

Hello readers!

Hear is my blog about Five Types of cultural studies. This task is given by pro Barad sir, Department of English Bhavnagar University.

1. Your understanding of British Cultural Materialism, in Your own Words.

Cultural matirialisam  began in earnest in the 1950s with the work of F. R. Leavis, heavily influenced by Matthew Arnold 's analyses of bourgeois culture. Cultural studies is refererd to as " cultural materialism" in Britain, and it has a long tradition. In the later nineteenth century. In Modern Britain two trajectories for"culture" developed one led back to the past and the feudal hierarchies that ordered community in the past here culture acted in its scared function as preserver of the past.

Cultural materialism says that the best way to understand human culture is to examine material conditions. Cultural studies emerged as a theoretical movement in the early 1880s along with new historicism, an American approach to early modern literature, with which it shares much common ground cultural materialists analyze the process by which hegemonic forces in society appropriate canonical and historically important.

2. What is contribution of michel foucault in new historicism?

New historians see such cross cultural phenomena as text in the selves from Hayden white, cultural studies practitioners learned how figural relationships between present and past tropes are shaped by historical Discourse for chifford Geetz they derived the Important of immersion in a culture.

Foucault understood power as continually articulated knowledge and vice versa, that knowledge always endorses the position of the powerful and that knowledge is created by power structures. New Historicists seek to find examples of power and manifestation of discursive practices, how they are dispersed within the text , and how they contribute to establishing the " greatness" His primary concern has been with power's relationship to the discursive formations in society that make knowledge.

3. how can new historicists help in answering the question raised against laputa episode in Gulliver’s Travels?

A new Historicists look at literature in a wider historical times affected the work and how the work reflect the writer 's times, in turn recognizing that current cultural contexts color that critic's conclusions.

Laputa is a ginatic trope of the female body : the circular island with a round chasm at the center, laputa has at its center a giant lodeston on which the movement of the island depends. Thus in " A voyage to laputa control of women has to mean control of their displeasure as well as their sexuality, reflecting the contemporary debates of swift's day. In a paradingmatic instance of misogyny, the achievements of male control over female body itself reders that body the wore laputa. One final historical note a pamphlet published in 1727 was purportedly written by Lemuel Gulliver, surgeon and anatomist to the kings of lilliput and Blefescu.

4. Four types of analysis of popular culture apply it on popular artifacts.

Before 1960s there was a time when popular culture was not studies by academics when popular culture was not studies by academics when it was well, just popular culture. They assess how such factors as ethnicity, race, gender, class, age, region and sexuality are shaped by  reshaped in popular culture.

There are four main types of popular cultural analysis :
1.production analysis 3. Audience Analysis
2.Textual Analysis 4. Historical Analysis

These analysis seek to get beneath the surface meaning and examine more implicit social meanings. Sometimes popular culture can so overtake and repackage to read the original text without reference to the many layers of popular culture that have developed around it. As we will also point out, the popular culture reconstruction of a work like frankenstein can also open it to unfore seen new interpretations.

Post modernism was based on an anarchical, non- totalized and indeterminate state of knowledge modernist approach was objective, theoretical and analytical while the post modernism approach was based on subjectivity. The fundamental difference between modernism and post modernism is that modernist thinking is about the search of an abstract truth of life while postmodernism thinkers believe that there is no universal truth, abstract or otherwise.

5.Difference between modernism and post modernism. It possible, give example also.

Modernism began in 1890s and lated till about 1945.post mordenism began after the second 1945. Mordenism was based on using rational, logical means to gain knowledge while postmodernism denied the application of logical thinking. Rather, the thinking during the postmodern era was based on unscientific, irrational thought process, as a reaction to modernism. A hierarchical and organized and determinate nature of knowledge characterized modernism.

For example :
Heidegger and Derrida some of the leading post modern theorist aggressively criticizes traditional culture and politics, However this could be seen as a passing fad. They argue that traditional culture, theory and politics. Specious invention of intellectual in search of a new Discourse and source of culture capital.
                                    Thank you..

Thinking Activity : Unit 1 Cultural Studies

Thinking Activity Unit :-1 Cultural Studies

What is culture?

Culture is an umbrella term which encompasses the social behaviour and norms found in human, societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs arts, laws, customs, capabilities and habits of the individual in these groups.

A cultural norms codifies acceptable conduct in society, in serves as a guideline for behaviour, dress, language and demeanor in a situation. Which serves as a template for expectations in a social group. Culture is the sum of total of the learned behaviour of a group of people that are generally consideraed to be the tradition of that people and are trans tradition of that people and are trans mitted from generation to generation.

What is cutural studies?

Cultural studies is the analysis of a culture's systems meaning, production and consumption. Cultural studies refers to areas of theory focus on forms of culture that are ordinarily produced and circulated within " the group central to their societies be thay hegemonic or non-hegemonic, and often on cultural artifacts implicated in economics and social power. These theories often originate in Marxist or material culture analysis, but soon redefine the concept of production. I is not simply the study of different cultures but uses many other studies to analyze different cultures such as philosophy, theology and literature etc. Cultural studies helps discower and the reason groups of people act the way they do.

  • Four Goals of cultural studies

1. Cultural studies transcends the confirm of a particular discipline such as literacy criticism or history

A cultural study is practiced in such journalist as critical fnqurity, Representation and boundary. Italian opera, a latino' telenovela' the architectural styles of prisons, body piercing and drawing conclusion about the changes in textual phenomena over time such things are found in these kinds of newspapers cultural studies not simply or essentially about literature in the tradition.

2.  Cultural studies is politically engaged.

The cultural critics see themselves as "oppostional" not only within there own discipliner but to many of the power structures of society at large. The cultural critics question inequalities within power structures and try to find out the models for restructuring relation ships among the dominant and " minority" of " subaltern" Discourses.

3.  Cultural studies demise the separation of 'high' and 'low' or elite and popular culture.

In these days cultural critics work to transfer the term culture to include mass culture, whether popular, folk, or urban. Jean Belldrillard, Andreas Huyssen and some other critics of cultural studies argue that after world war  2 the distinction among high law and mass culture collapsed. The look forward on other theorists like pierre  boundary and Dick Hebdige on how " good taste often only reflecting prevailing social economic and political power based."

4.  Cultural studies analysis not only the cultural works, but also the means of production.

A well known analysis of literary production is sanice Radway's study of the America Romance and its readers," Reading the Romance", women, patriarchy and popular literature which demonstrates the textual effects of the publishing industries decisions effects of the publishing industy's decision about books that will reduce its financial risks".

'power' of cultural studies

Power at the center of cultural studies. We do not have the power of choice, power comes from how it is exercised what you can do.

Power is ability to make others do what you would have them do according to michel foucault, the nation that power is a whole complex of firces, it is which produces what appears.

                                      Thank you...
