Hello readers!
Here I am sharing my view about journey of prof. Balaji Rangnathan sir. Those days are memorable forever, we have learnt many good and new things about syllabus as well as outside world.
So, Balaji sir was deal with post colonial studies, which was hard paper to read and understand. On those days sir talked about various topic or unit like.
- Black skin white masks :- Frantz fanon
- A Tempest :- Aime cesair
- Orientalism :- Edward said
- Imaginary Homelands :- Salman Rushdie
So here I am wrote about first unit black skin white masks by frantz fanon.so lats see
Black skin white masks
At the very beginning of the session or a lecture he throw some light on the different binaries between the colonialism and post colonialism. Firstly I am impressed by sir's tone or control power on language. Sir very good command and influency ever the language. For a second I also wish to have a that kind of command on language.
During this discussion has given very relevant example with the topic, with which we understand more about that notion sir say that it is good from to introduce a work in psychology with a statement of its methodological point of view.
We all know that black skin white masks is divided into Eight chapter. Balaji sir is very well explain to this chapter and also give many interesting examples for this chapters.
Language has power. That we all know Ex. English language. It is a global language. So in this work French language has power. Black people speaks their own native language. So they seems inferior.
Here, Rangnathan sir gave very good point of caste in post colonial studies marginality, completely seals with inferiority, minority.
Now In second chapter we can see the that black women as desire and the white men are symbol of power desire is a part of life. Here again we can take example, story of fisherman and his wife. Which was taken by Virginia in lighthouse. Fanon here searching for binaries. Desire to be white it is a biological idea and society will never accept this idea because it has idea of regulation not of tentative.
As sir discussed previously that desire is a part of our life and it is constant in second chapter we see that woman of colour who want to get white man.
Here in next chapter in the man of colour who want white woman so when we talk about desire at that time there is no any gender discrimination but when we knew the reasons which and might be we will not get.
In this chapter we come to know that white women like black man more then white so here is also a controversy because of white man who wants white women.
This chapter started with the OCTAVE MANNONI'S work regarding " phycology of colonization" Which this reference of phycology phenomenon between colonized colonizer. Fanon criticize the mannion's idea and say it is very much a problem of colonialism is a clear "objective human Altitude and a" played Act of Teritory of Desire" they are captured the know how to rule.
Here we can see the stereotype of happy, Darkies, uppitnegroes and white saviours all come from the need of white people to feel that their power in society is good and not recist.
In this chapter when an wrote about his own expression as a black man.
In this chapter fanon connect mistakes with psychology white people fear black men. Partly it has to do with white mens repressed sexuality and their struggle hang ups about black men's penises. More generally, black means are viewed as bodies, which makes them seem like mind less, violence, sexual, animal beings.
Here this chapter is about recognition of fantasy. How different styles of white rule shaped black people in America and Martinique.
This is the last chapter and fanon come to conclusions. Fanon does not want to be a black man, he wants to se a man, plain and simple. He knows that different issues around the world need different solutions and warns against "appeals for reason or respect" that are unlikely to produce change.
Thank you...
